10 – Step Plan

Great! So you have decided you want a website for yourself or your business.  Ok now what?

Here is Telluride Tech 10-Step plan for getting from the idea in your head to live website.

1) Share your high level idea and goals for the site

You may have an amazing idea in your head, but getting it out can be surprisingly hard.  Telluride Tech can help with guided questions and thoughts to help give a basic idea of the process of going from idea -> live website.

2) Logistics

Let Telluride Tech handle the logistics, but there are several questions that need to be answered before heading to the next step.  The answers to the questions of domain name, email and hosting will be guided from step #1.

3) High level structure of site

At this step we take your ideas in step 1 and look at other sites.  Determine what you like and dislike.  Then we sketch out a basic structure of the site including Navigation, Sections, Pages, etc.

4) Base look and feel

Once we have structure of the site in mind, we then look at look and feel of the site.  Wordpress and Shopify have many different themes that can be customized based on your needs.  Topics included in this step are fonts, color palettes, etc.

5) Gathering of assets

In this step we start gathering assets like logos, images and the copy (what you want to say on the website).  All of these can be changed later, but it is good to inventory what we have to start with.

6) Implementation in Staging Area

This is where Telluride Tech goes away and implements your website in a staging area that is not accessible to the public but can be viewed by you.  This will give you the ability to give immediate feedback.

7) Identify changes

Telluride Tech meets with you and prioritizes the changes you want to the site.  Repeat back to step 6 as long as it takes.

8) Go Live!

YAY!  After completing steps in #6 and #7, we are ready to take the site from staging to live!  Congratulations!  However, it is important to remember that this is not the last step.

9) Analysis of feedback and next actions

So imediattly after your site goes live, you will get feedback from your visitors and yourself.   Telluride Tech can either transition into a support role or we can make the changes ourselves.  In addition to feedback from users, you will have access to lots data including site usage etc.

10) Maintenance plan

A maintenance plan is often overlooked.  Just like when you buy that shiny new car, that car still needs to be maintained.   Depending on your needs this can possibly be done by you or can be supported by Telluride Tech.  Let Telluride Tech explain some of the possible places that need to be maintained and come up with a plan.
